Sea Maiden Design - The Sea Maiden

Character design for the main antagonist of the Scottish fairy tale "The Sea Maiden". The Sea Maiden had given an old fisherman a son in the promise that the boy would be returned to her once he turned twenty. That promise would continue to influence the events that would follow, ultimately resulting in her demise.

Her design was mainly influenced by the Merrow in Celtic mythology, as well as kelp and seaweed.
